Resident Evil 7: My Game of the Year Runner UP
It seems to be the consensus that the legend of Zelda: breath of the wild, is the undisputed game of the year amongst all those who review and critique video games, but let’s take a second to talk about one of the video games that is a very viable runner up. That game is Resident Evil 7.
Resident Evil 7 ditched the formula that they had been using for the past few games and went back to their roots.
Once Capcom realized that the horror/action genre was doing more harm than good, they decided to scrap it and go back to the basics, and with RE7 they did a damned good job. They made one major change with the game though, and that was switching the camera view from third person to first.
Initially, when they announced that the game would be played this way most of the fans who played classic Resident Evil games were shocked and also worried that this change may not be a welcomed one. But when the game released not only was the change welcomed, it was also loved. Many players were shocked as to how much they enjoyed the new change along with the return to the classic horror genre.
Resident Evil 7 had jump scares, boss fights, and a compelling story that forced the player to make difficult decisions in split seconds that could determine whether or not the outcome would be life or death. On top of everything else that Capcom did right with this game, they also nailed the aesthetics to a tee which made this game look beautiful and also allowed the game’s fear factor to shoot through the roof. Tell us in the comments below how you feel about Resident Evil 7 as a GOTY contender.
