5 Fantastic SCI-FI Video Games That Gets “SCI-FI” Right

The Sci-fi genre may be the most complex and deep topics to make games or movies on. Some have done it and passed with flying colors and some tried to do it but just didn’t work out. I personally love playing SCI-FI that focuses on Story, Characters, and most importantly atmosphere. The atmosphere is the one thing I always fall for. Today we listed down best SCI-FI Video games that SCI-FI right!

1. TACOMA

Tacoma may only be about 3 hours long, but it fills that time beautifully, telling a thoughtful, poignant tale told through the magic of science fiction. Come for the space, stay for the heart. And the space basketball. – DarkStation
If you want a great story told well, that will last an afternoon, then get Tacoma. It knows what it wants to be, and it does that perfectly. – GameGrin
Tacoma successfully overcomes the challenge of featuring eight characters and making them all interesting in a relatively short game. Using the out-of-sequence AR recordings to learn about the exciting events on Tacoma is a unique way to see every side of a conversation, and it’s one I hope to see catch on. I would have appreciated more time and events that’d have given me a reason to explore more of the beautiful station, but the time I did have in this fascinating hypothetical future was great. – IGN

 2. ENDLESS SPACE 2

Endless Space 2 isn’t just a very solid 4X game. It’s also quite the narrative experience. Every faction has a story to tell, and every game will see you playing to their strengths while learning that story. – IGN Italia

This is one of the deepest strategy and management games we’ve ever played, and it delivers everything 4X fans can ask for. – Vandal
Endless Space 2 offers hundreds of ways to play, an interesting player-driven narrative experience, and above all the addictive turn-based gameplay we’ve grown to love. – GameCrate

3. DESTINY 2

With the availability of multiple control schemes, top-notch visuals, and more extensive customization of your play and control experience, the PC version of Destiny 2 is an excellent way to play the game, especially if you have yet to try Destiny 2. – Game Informer
Destiny lands on PC with everything a PC user can ask for and more. Great control, amazing optimization, and all the good and the not-so-good things about the series. – Vandal
If you’re after an infinite action RPG then Destiny 2 is a few DLC packs and expansions away from that, but if you’re after a regular light dose of beautiful sci-fi shooter fun, the perfect post-pub co-op jolly, or the game that will have your fireteam shouting in joy at your monitors when a raid boss goes down, Destiny 2 is a very well-made shooter and one of the best co-op games on PC. – PC Gamer

4. PREY

Excellent first-person action with a strong RPG element allows countless gameplay approaches with its sensitively set systems and fantastic game- and level- design. It brings an eye-catching story, a great scriptwriting, a mercilessly exciting atmosphere, and it does not allow criticism of logical deficiencies because it explains everything carefully. Technically, it is flawless and runs smoothly. A handful of minor flaws can be overlooked with no regret. – Games.cz
Although Prey never rises to the first Bioshock for me anyway, but it does not have to be: If you are looking for a game in the style of a System Shock and do not expect an exceptionally good shooter, you’ll get an exciting, comprehensive and challenging Sci- Survival adventure. – PC Games
Although Prey suffers from some issues such as lack of variety in weapons, unimpressive side-missions and a few underdeveloped gameplay mechanics, it still delivers for a wide range of gamers. Whether you approach Prey as a Run and Gun shooter, Stealth Action or Action RPG, you will get enough satisfaction through its lengthy campaign full of mysteries waiting to be unveiled. – BaziCenter

5. HORIZON: ZERO DAWN

A perfect example of strong, competent and enjoyable gameplay. It doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it’s a lot of fun to play. The mecha-dino combat is the highlight and represents some of the most enjoyable open-world combat on the market. Burning through powerful foes and looting their corpses for rare treasures captures an excitement rarely felt in open-world games. The rest of the gameplay is somewhat dulled in comparison. A somewhat weak plot drags down the experience but isn’t enough to detract from the enjoyment. – Worth Playing
This is a culmination of everything Guerrilla has learned from working on the Killzone franchise and they’ve successfully crafted something that delivers on the potential many saw back in 2015. Horizon Zero Dawn is not only one of the best-looking games of this generation, but a must own for every PlayStation 4 owner. – Hardcore Gamer
This game is, above all else, a narrative triumph: a nuanced hero’s journey that blends tried-and-tested tribal fantasy tropes to a particularly poignant and humanistic brand of post-apocalyptic sci-fi. – Slant Magazine
