5 Weird And Strange Dystopian Video Games

Cyberpunk is still my favorite genre in gaming. The atmosphere, Funky gadgets, Weird characters combining all of these make a great Cyberpunk game or movie. But there is a difference between Cyberpunk and Cyberpunk Dystopian. In Cyberpunk not everything has to be necessarily bad and dark but in Cyberpunk Dystopian the future is dark, giddy and unpleasant and it all makes for amazing settings in games and movies. Some developers have already nailed this thing and today we are counting down the best Dystopian Games.

1. Homefront

It features plenty of enemies, some pretty awesome locations, and a killer premise. Though the story falls flat about halfway through, and the game needs at least five more chapters to feel complete, you will have lots of fun in the short amount of time that you do have with the single player. – Cheat Code Central
Homefront’s engrossing vision of the future and gratifying competitive multiplayer outweigh its squandered potential and workaday game mechanics. – GameSpot
Ultimately, Homefront’s threadbare campaign is like a beautiful, sweeping piece of music being awkwardly recited by a child on a recorder. – VideoGamer

2. Papers, Please

A true game, with a base gameplay that gets more and more complex as we play, with subtle touches and ruleset changes. But it’s so much more as well : a deep dive in a terrifying dystopia, brilliantly crafted, that will put your life into perspective and awaken your political consciousness with both violence and humor. – Gameblog.fr
Well-paced, straight-forward game play combines with vivid storytelling to make into a fantastic game. More than a tale of bureaucratic spot the difference, Papers, Please is a game of intrigue and excitement balanced by fear for your family. – Critical Hit

 3. Metro 2033

Despite those nitpicks and a couple frustrating late-game sections, Metro 2033’s greatest success is the consistency of its pacing. You’re constantly encountering new factions, discovering interesting new locations, or being tasked to do something you haven’t done before. – Game Informer
In reality, this a good game, with a good storyline, excellent graphics, great moments in the artistic level, and an excellent environment. – Eurogamer Portugal

Essentially it’s a huge Arcade game that will give you an awful lot of tremendous fun as you blow up half the city and kill everything that moves in the most creative ways possible, and moves to levels beyond fun when playing with a friend, but lasts too short to really stand high above the crowd and be remembered for years to come. – Xboxic
This is the kind of game that takes over your brain after long play sessions, leading you to scrutinize real-life buildings for handholds and leaping potential. It’s an absolute blast to play, and arguably one of the finest superhero games made thus far. – G4 TV
