5 Most Overlooked PlayStation 4 Video Games Of 2017 So Far

Horizon Zero Dawn and other great games like Nier Automata made 2017 one of the best years in gaming history. The first half of 2017 was filled with amazing games but PS4 was the dominant gaming console that had the best exclusives compared to other gaming platforms. Even though HZD stole the show there are some games that were overlooked because of big releases like Crash Bandicoot and HZD. These are some of the best video games that were overlooked in 2017 for PS4.

THE SURGE

The Surge is a whirlwind of action-RPG fun with a fast and frantic melee-focused combat system, addictive loot systems and an immersive sci-fi horror atmosphere. – Impulsegamer

Although the core mechanics are deeply rooted in the same soil that grew From Sofftwares Souls franchise, the visceral fighting mechanics with their specific target zones are kinda unique and makes you feel like you are playing a mixture of Transformers and Mortal Kombat. Unfortunately the world and quest design are rather generic. – 4Players.de

The Surge has become a really nice game that will easily keep you entertained for many hours. This is not just a copy of a different game series, this is a great, standalone videogame – InsideGamer.nl

GRAVITY RUSH 2

The first great game of 2017. It takes what made the original a cult classic and builds upon that foundation in meaningful ways across all areas of the experience. Few games will make your heart race and palms sweat with excitement from moment-to-moment like Kat’s physics-defying journey through the skies. – GameCrate
There are a number of standout missions in Gravity Rush 2 that will have players scrambling every which way until it is hard to tell down from up. – Washington Post
It may start out a little slowly, but once it hits its stride, it quickly becomes apparent that the sky’s both the literal and figurative limit as to what this game can accomplish. – Gaming Age

HITMAN

Hitman-1

Season 1 delivered near flawlessly. IO Interactive has built a framework that they can keep building on for years to come here, and we can’t wait to dive back into more missions in season 2. – Twinfinite

The first season offers a classic but at the same time new take on the Hitman experience. It asks for every mission to be replayed and rediscovered, and we’ve enjoyed it thanks to its diversity and possibilities. – Vandal

With Hitman: The Complete First Season, IO Interactive has successfully managed to take the series back to its roots with style, making it a must-have for stealth fans yet to savour its delights. – GameSpew

WHAT REMAINS OF EDITH FINCH

It may depress you, and it may leave you with tears in your eyes afterwards, but when a game tells a story as well as What Remains of Edith Finch does here, it deserves not just to be played, but to be remembered and discussed and considered long after you’ve set down the controller. – Gaming Age
While it didn’t bring literal tears to my eyes, there are moments that certainly feel like a kick to the soul thanks to impeccable writing and direction. – The Jimquisition
What Remains of Edith Finch may only provide a brief glimpse into the lives of its characters like a family photo albums filled with moments that have long since passed, but it’s sure to leave a lasting impression. – DualShockers

PYRE

Pyre backs up its eye candy with some pretty impressive world-building and fun gameplay, particularly in Versus Mode. – GamesBeat

Pyre’s storytelling ambience, narration, art, and music work in concert. This gives the experience a singular identity, and the mash-up of role-playing and sports gameplay cements that distinctiveness. More showing and less telling could improve the pacing, and the lengthy travel and dialogue sequences have the potential to detract from the thrill of the “fights. – Game Informer

Looking back on my time with Pyre, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. The game is a beautifully wrapped package, with great gameplay and deep lore and plot to delve into if you want to. The gameplay is enjoyable enough to make the multiplayer mode worth taking a look at, lack of online features aside. – RPG Site
