The New AtariBox Is The Most Futuristic looking Gaming Console
Not Too long ago we reported that Atari is back in the game with their new console. The Console is called Ataribox. We still don’t have any new information about specs or games. In an email from Atari, there were few images of the console.
According To the email, the console will come with two design with different color schemes. One will be with wood at the front and the other will be black and red, with glass at the front. I/O i.e. 4x USB ports, 1x HDMI port, SD Card slot and ethernet port
Our objective is to create a new product that stays true to our heritage while appealing to both old and new fans of Atari.
We intend to release two editions: a wood edition, and a black/red edition.
In the email, Atari mentioned that the Ataribox can play both modern game console and retro games.
As you can guess, those ports suggest modern internal specs. It also means that while we will be delivering classic gaming content, we will also be delivering current gaming content.
Although they did mention the design and the games it will be able to play but they didn’t tell anything about release date and specs. Atari is going step by step and they are collecting the valuable feedback of the gamers, as they develop this console.
We know you are hungry for more details; on specs, games, features, pricing, timing etc. We’re not teasing you intentionally; we want to get this right, so we’ve opted to share things step by step as we bring Ataribox to life, and to listen closely to Atari community feedback as we do so. There are a lot of milestones, challenges and decision points in front of us in the months ahead. We’ll be giving you lots more information and status updates as we progress, and we are thrilled to have you along for the ride!
I personally think that the design of the console is really good and it is definitely going to compete with Xbox One and PS4 in terms of design. The best about the console is how it can play both modern games and retro games. Even though I have many questions regarding how it will handle modern gaming. Will it play games on solid 60fps? Will it be able to play games like GTA 5, Witcher 3? Will it be able to run games natively on 4k? I know some questions sound really unusual but still, it feels good to speculate.
If Ataribox is aiming to compete with Xbox One and PS4 then I don’t think it will be able to stand in the market on its own. The best thing would be if Atari makes its own audience that does not want to compete with any other gaming console on the market.
In the end, I am really happy to see how Atari is back in the game and how it is going to affect the console market.
