What was missing at this past E3 back in June has made a huge splash on the main stage during the expo was Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts III. Sora is back along with his friends, Donald and Goofy to fight the Heartless, Nobodies and the return of Organization XIII.

The long-awaited title was showcased this weekend, giving us more gameplay features and more parts to the story. The trailer also shows the gorgeous graphics that Square is famous for.

Fans of the series will be delighted by the return of familiar worlds such as a reimagined Olympus Colosseum, as well as new ones including Tangled and Big Hero Six. Sora also showing off some new tricks like his double Arrowguns and Magical Launcher.

The main event was the release of a brand new world never teased or seen before as Square showed off their first Pixar world: Toy Story. Sora, Donald, and Goofy enter the world of Andy’s bedroom to team up with Woody and Buzz for the first time ever. Sora and the crew are also sporting some new forms featuring toy-like bodies to fit the theme of the world.

This wasn’t the only surprise Square had in store for us, as for the first time the game was given a release date. The projected release is for 2018 with no official date set but it gives fans some hope for the game to actually be released after it disappeared for a while. Kingdom Hearts III will be released on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, making it the first in the series to be on a Microsoft console.
