No Mans Sky Twitter Account Hacked Tweets “It Was A Mistake”

The Hello Games Twitter account is now public again. The developer also said, “100 percent not hacked anymore. Obviously those mails and that tweet were fake. Back to work.”

Earlier today, the official Hello Games Twitter account published a tweet that simply said, “No Man’s Sky was a mistake.” The tweet, which was sent from LinkedIn, was later deleted and the account set to private. The tweet has been a much-discussed topic on places like NeoGAF and elsewhere, but it looks like Hello Games didn’t intend to send it.

Hello Games founder Sean Murray, who was the director on No Man’s Sky, wrote on Twitter today–his first update since August–to say, “If anything was a mistake, it was using LinkedIn without [two-factor authorization].” In another tweet, he stated that Hello Games’ servers were hacked, which may have contributed to statements attributed to the company you might have seen around the internet today. It might also be that Murray’s tweets were not written by him, so best to take things with a grain of salt.
