In Next Year,They Announced That Rock Band VR Is Coming
Tonight during the 2015 Game Awards, Harmonix and Oculus announced a virtual reality version of the music game Rock Band for Oculus Rift. There were basically no details provided, but the game will launch in 2016 alongside the Oculus Rift headset itself.
Oculus Rift creator Palmer Luckey appeared on stage, wielding a plastic Rock Band guitar. He added that Oculus has been working with Harmonix on Rock Band VR for a long time.
A funny video was also shown during the event, showcasing Harmonix developers and Luckey rocking out with the band Dragonforce. Apparently their song “Through the Fire and the Flames” will be playable in Rock Band VR.
This isn’t Harmonix’s first VR game, as the studio also released atrippy-looking music game for Samsung’s Gear VR. The announcement of Rock Band VR isn’t all that surprising, given that Harmonix CEO Steve Janiak said in April that Rock Band in VR could be amazing.
The latest entry in the core Rock Band series is Rock Band 4, which launched for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in October.!
