Fallout 4 Voice Actress Says “Fallout 4’s Attention to Detail is Like Pixar’s”
Fallout 4 voice actress Courtenay Taylor has discussed recording lines for the female player character in Bethesda’s upcoming sequel, as well as her impressions of the game, and the creative process behind it.
Speaking in an interview with IGN, Taylor revealed 13,000 lines she recorded made it into the game. Elsewhere in the interview, she likened the attention to detail Bethesda placed in world creation to that of Pixar’s.
“I’ve never worked this long on a game and I think that does affect my excitement but also the material is great. The writing is great. It is exactly what you would expect from a Fallout game, but better–it’s more immersive,” she said. “They’ve taken it to a new level. There’s no stone that’s been unturned.
“It’s like–I went to Pixar, in Emeryville once. And they were talking about the movie Cars, and the level of detail in Cars. In every car, they would know what was in the glove box, even if the glove box is never opened, these creators would know exactly what was inside. You couldn’t just say ‘Oh, I have no idea.’ Detail is fleshed out completely.”
She continued: “It rung the same for me on Fallout 4. Even if the camera never goes there, we know it’s there. And the effect of that level of detail is going to be apparent.”
The Fallout 4 release date is set for November 10 across PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Bethesda recently published the last episode in its “S.P.E.C.I.A.L.” video series, showing how a little luck can get you far in the Wasteland.
Screenshots and videos from Fallout 4 have leaked onto the Internet ahead of its release. Previously, screenshots from the PlayStation 4 version (which have now been removed) appeared. Before that, Fallout 4’s menu screen and Xbox One control scheme leaked. Bethesda has told GameSpot that it has no plans to officially comment on any leaked Fallout 4 material between now and launch.
