Divinity: Original Sin II has reached 1 million on Kickstarter campaign
That’s more than double the project’s original $500,000 target, which was reached in under 12 hours. At press time, funding stands at $1,052,062 from more 23,000 backers. The figure is likely to grow higher still, as the Original Sin II campaign runs for another 29 days, ending on September 30.
“By the Seven!” developer Larian Studios wrote in a Kickstarter update. “It’s crazy enough that we blasted through our original goal of $500,000 in just 12 hours, but now we’ve hit $1,000,000 on just Day 5? Unbelievable! The support we’ve received from you all has just been amazing. Thank you so much to each and every one of our backers: you’re helping this dream become a reality, and we’re very, very excited to work with you over the coming months to make this game something truly special.”
Now that the Original Sin II campaign has reached $1,00,000, Larian will introduce Racial Skills to each Origin. This will have a profound impact on how the game plays.
“Choosing a lizard over a dwarf will no longer be an aesthetic choice: now it will come with a range of skills, talents, and abilities that will reflect each race’s background, strengths, and place in the world,” Larian said. “The history of your race will now directly affect how you fight, converse, and move through Rivellon. It’ll change how you deal with NPCs and friends alike, and will add a brand new layer of complexity and tactics to combat and your experience, letting you shape and mold your characters into the people (or lizards) that you want them to be.”
Should the Original Sin II campaign reach $1.2 million, Larian will add the new undead playable race; if funding hits $1.5 million, developers will introduce a new location, the Hall of Echoes.
Larian has also now launched a new UserVoice page for Original Sin II where you can submit and vote on game ideas.
