NINTENDO CEO-SATORU IWATA PASSED AWAY
President and CEO of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, has died at the age of 55 on Saturday. Satoru Iwata cause of death was a bile duct growth he was battling for some time now.
Satoru Iwata took over as CEO of Nintendo back in 2002 after Hiroshi Yamauchi. Satoru led Nintendo with huge success with the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii consoles. Iwata previous worked as a programmer at HAL. HAL is affiliated with Nintendo that Iwata contribute to games such as EarthBound, Balloon Fight, and the Kirby Series.
Satoru Iwata was a well-known figure by Nintendo followers as well with people in the video game industry. Satoru helped Nintendo with fans through social media on Nintendo’s Wii website called “Iwata Asks,” where Satoru interviewed Nintendo developers about upcoming and resent released games.
In 2014 Satoru Iwata announced that he would not be present at E3 2014 due to medical reasons where doctors recommended that he should not fly. Satoru would later go into surgery to remove a tumor in his bile duct.
The video game industry is sad by the loss of Satoru Iwata who was known to many that knew him personally as a man who “played by his own rules.”
As of now a new CEO has not been announced but, Genyo Takeda and Shigeru Miyamoto will remain as decision making reps directors for Nintendo.
